The Mighty Vipers are an eclectic mix of musicians from many of the major cities in the North of England. A 16-legged party juggernaut hammering out protest music wrapped in a brass-fuelled frenzy of funk, reggae and disco. Big Cheese in the UK said: ‘If your legs aren’t moving then you must be dead’.
Drawing influence from across the globe, The Mighty Vipers blend Latin rhythms from South American, dirty reggae from Jamaica, 1930s NYC jazz and the sounds of African townships all together in one decadent cocktail of groove. Think ‘The Cat Empire’ meets ‘The Skatalites’, and throw in a little of ‘The Clash’, and then you’re somewhere close.
